JAY – Georges Valley captured the Mountain Valley Conference boys’ soccer championship with a 2-0 triumph over Monmouth.
The first goal came 20 minutes into the contest off a corner kick that deflected off a Monmouth player and went into the goal. With 20 seconds left in the game, Georges Valley scored an insurance goal off a penalty kick by Nick Lunt. Monmouth had several chances to score, but couldn’t capitlize on them.
Jake Hall was solid in net, stopping seven shots for the Buccaneers. Scott Ogden made 16 saves for the Mustangs.
