PERU – Residents of this town will have an extra ballot when they go to the polls Nov. 8.
Besides voting on the state’s seven questions on the ballot, they will also decide who will be their next selectman.
Kate Austin, a selectmen who was elected at the March town meeting, has resigned. A student, she has transferred to a Florida college.
Running to replace her, and to serve the more than two years remaining in the term, are William Hine and Eric Horne.
Hine, a resident of Greenwoods Road, is a former selectman who served for three years, completing his term in 2000. He is a member of the River Valley Growth Council, the Peru Planning Board, and River Valley Connections.
Horne, a resident of Wiken road, is a freelance writer and member of the Board of Appeals.
Voting will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 at Rockemeka Grange.
