WATERVILLE – Laura Williamson moved into second place on Colby College’s all-time scoring list and teammate Libba Cox had a goal and an assist to lift the White Mules to a 4-0 win over Husson in women’s soccer Thursday.
Williamson scored 4:39 into the game, before Cox, who assisted on Williamsons’ goal, tallied at 15:53 of the first half for the 2-0 lead. The sister act of Kara and Katie McCabe had assists on the play. Meg Codner and Jessica Lueders-Dumont rounded out the scoring for Colby (6-2-3).
Liza Benson and Rachel Freierman split time in net, combining for two saves for the shutout win.
Field Hockey
Maine 2, Vermont 0
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Heather Hathorn and Erin Corey each netted a goal to give Maine a 2-0 triumph over Vermont in field hockey action Thursday afternoon.
Hathorn scored the first goal at 26:18 into the contest. After collecting a pass from Corey, she fired a shot to the far post. Corey tallied the insurance goal after heading in a rebound off a shot from Laura Harper.
Jasmine Phillips needed to make three saves to preserve the shutout for the Black Bears (10-5-1, 5-1-1). Laura Kissock stopped seven shots for Vermont (8-7-1, 4-2-1).
