AUBURN – Fernande “Fern” Sutton Bazinet, 82, a resident of Schooner Estates, Seville Place and previously of Oak Park Apartments in Lewiston, passed away on Oct. 19.

She was born May 1, 1923, in Lewiston, the youngest daughter of Joseph and Angelina Sutton.

She married her high school sweetheart Laurier “Larry” Bazinet on July 15, 1946, and together they had two sons and a daughter. She was a loving spouse and mother who was very active in her children’s lives as well as in the community.

She was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Church Queens Guild, the St. Joseph’s School PTA and a Cub Scout den mother for several years.

She was co-owner of the family business with her husband, Larry, that later became The Vac Shak. She loved her job working as a manager of the St. Vincent de Paul thrift shop and also enjoyed working the voting polls in Lewiston.

While living at Oak Park, she served as a president of the Oak Park Association. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church and church fair. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, doing crafts and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending her winters in Sun City Center, Fla., which she did with Larry for 12 years.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years; her two sons, John of Guatemala City, Guatemala, and Gary and his wife, Karen, of Poland Spring; her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Philip St. Pierre, of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Gregory Bazinet, Shari and her husband, Jason Cloutier, and Kathleen and her husband, Steven Caron; one great-grandson, Benjamin Cloutier; one sister, Rita Beliveau; and one sister-in-law, Agathe Sutton.

She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
