LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livemore Falls Andies took another step in securing a playoff spot Friday with a 31-6 victory over Traip at a chilly Griffin Field.

Freshman running back Kyle Stebbins led the Andies (4-4) with three first-half touchdowns, as the Andies jumped out to a 25-6 lead by halftime and were never threathend.

Livermore Falls scored on its first four possessions and had another drive halted at the goal line by a fumble.

So dominant was the Andies’ running game, they never faced third down until late in the third quarter.

Mark O’Shea put the Andies on the board first with a 5-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter.

Then after recovering a Traip fumble, Stebbins scored his first touchdown of the night on a 7-yard run.

The second quarter continued much the same with Stebbins and O’Shea gaining big chunks of yardage on the ground. Stebbins scored twice in the second quarter on runs of 7 and 1 yards.

Traip (0-8) scored its only touchdown late in the second quarter when Andrew Cutts rushed in from 7 yards to cut the Andies lead at halftime to 25-6.

Livermore Falls added a score early in the fourth quarter when senior Karlton Jones powered in from 3 yards out to give the Andies the final margin of victory.

“We had a few turnovers and some penalties,” said Livermore coach Brad Bishop. “The kids tend to lose concentration when you get a big lead.”

With the victory Livermore Falls jumped right back into the playoff picture, with next week’s game against arch rival Jay looming.

“If we win next week, we might get in,” said Bishop. “We control our own destiny.”
