THOMASTON – Autumn Bell scored the game’s lone goal 10 minutes into the second half to lift ninth-seed St. Dom’s to a stunning 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten and No. 1 Georges Valley in the quarterfinals of the Western Class C tournament Friday.

Katie Lyons of St. Dom’s (10-5-1) stopped all five shots for the shutout, while Chelsie Eugley was credited with five saves for the Buccaneers (11-1-3).

Mt. Abram 2, Dirigo 1

SALEM – Logahn Walker scored two goals to lead No. 4 Mt. Abram to a 2-1 victory over No. 5 Dirigo in the quarterfinals of the Western Class C girls’ soccer playoffs Friday.

Walker scored both goals on breakaways from passes up the middle to beat Christina Chow (five saves) and give the Roadrunners (12-2-1) a 2-0 advantage.

Dirigo (9-4-2) pulled to within a goal when Shannon Daley headed in a Katherine Gagne feed with just over 14 minutes left in the game. The Cougars had a great chance to tie things up, but Roadrunner keeper Briana Wilkins (five saves) stopped Katie Hutchinson from point-blank range with four minutes to play.

Rangeley 2, Valley 1

RANGELEY – Taylor Gellman and Ashley Quimby took turns setting up the other on scoring plays to lead Rangeley to a 2-1 triumph over Valley in the quarterfinals of the Western Class D tournament.

Gellman scored the lone goal of the first half with 29:16 left. Gellman then assisted on Quimby’s tally four minutes into the second half, which proved to be the game winner for the Lakers (8-7).

Jeri-Dee Fitzmorris scored Valley’s lone goal on a direct kick with 34:35 left.

Rangeley’s Krista Jamison recorded three saves.

York 4, Lisbon 0

YORK – Kellie Lajoie recorded the first two goals of the contest as No. 4 York cruised to a 4-0 shutout over No. 5 Lisbon in the quarterfinals of the Western Class B girls’ soccer playoffs Friday.

Hailey Blackburn set up all four goals for the Wildcats (10-4-1). Kiah-Voyer Colbath and Taylor Vance were credited with York’s second-half goals.

Goalie Sam Purcell had 29 saves for the Greyhounds (8-4-3), while goalie Brooke Simpson deflected both shots she faced for York.

Maranacook 4, Lake Region 0

READFIELD – Allison Meyer scored a pair of goals to lift No. 3 Maranacook to a 4-0 shutout victory over No. 6 Lake Region in the quarterfinals of the Western Class B girls’ soccer playoffs Friday.

Amy Gifford got things started for the Black Bears (13-1-1) with a conversion from Ali Trafton in the 31st minute. Maranacook took a 3-0 lead into the half.

The Lakers’ (9-6) were effectively shut down by a superior job from Black Bears’ Shannon Bean.
