LEWISTON – Barbara Imperiali, a chemical biologist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will give a talk titled “Chemical Tools for the Study of Complex Biological Systems” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Bates College’s Pettengill Hall, Keck Classroom (G52).
The annual George S. Hammond Eminent Scientist Lecture is open to the public at no cost.
Imperiali is the Class of 1922 professor of chemistry and professor of biology at MIT, where she has taught since 1999. Addressing fundamental problems at the interface of chemistry and biology, she researches diverse aspects of protein structure, function and design. Her Bates lecture will outline a program that targets the design and implementation of new chemical probes in the study of complex biological systems.
