LEWISTON – Lauretta C. Chasse, of 211 Randall Road, died at her residence.
Born in St. Cyprien, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Joseph and Marie Malenfant Caron. She moved to Maine with her family at the age of 7. She was educated at the Robinson Corner School, graduated from Lewiston High School and attended Assumption College.
She was married to Robert A. Chasse on Jan. 25, 1952. He died Aug. 10, 1993. He was a military career man, and they traveled throughout Europe and various states.
She was founder and president of the Lady of the Snow Woods in Germany, a youth group, and was awarded a certificate for the service as staff aide with the Red Cross in Germany. She worked as a real estate agent in New Jersey, and was instrumental in forming a fellowship for women in Brunswick for 20 years.
She moved back to Lewiston in 1993 where she continued to volunteer service at St. Martin de Porres. She had a divine connection with her maker and was a communicant of Holy Family Parish where she attended Mass every day. She had a special bond with her nephews Rene and Leo Violette, and her niece Joline Pequinot.
She is survived by her godchild Jessica Chasse; her two sisters, Blanche Tardif and Lorraine Langlois; and her brother, Ralph Caron.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Annette (Nancy) Violette and Delima Cloutier; and her brothers, Charles, Sam and Leo Caron.
