HARTFORD – Nelson S. Judd, 53, of Hartford, died Saturday, Oct. 22, surrounded by his loving family, at Central Maine Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston on July 17, 1952, the son of Stanley and Rita (Perry) Judd. Nelson was educated in local schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1970. He later received a master’s degree in education from the University of Maine at Gorham.

He married Mary L. Kennedy of Harrington in August of 1974. He retired from teaching after 30 years of dedicated service with the Buckfield/Hartford/Sumner elementary schools.

Nelson enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and was an accomplished musician as well. He was a member of NEA and the Maine Teachers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Mary (Kennedy) Judd of Buckfield; his father, Stanley Judd and stepmother, Esther Judd of Hebron; one daughter, Cindy Fournier and her husband, Bob, of Leeds; one son, Michael Judd and his wife, Jennifer, of Hartford; one brother, Terry Judd and his wife, Tammy, and their daughter, Aleashia Judd, all of Leeds; step-siblings, Daniel and Jackie Kosalski of Connecticut, Stephen and Marjorie Kosalski of Winthrop, and James and Helen Gormandy of New York; as well as several close friends and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his mother, Rita M. (Perry) Judd; and a brother, Gary D. Judd.
