LEWISTON – Sydney Lea, a Vermont writer deeply influenced by the natural world, will read from his work at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in Chase Hall Lounge, 56 Campus Ave., Bates College. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Widely known as adept in several literary genres, Lea founded the New England Review, a journal of literature, in 1977 and edited it until 1989.

Lea lives in Newbury, Vt.
