Referendum Question 1 is not about gay rights. It is about people’s rights and freedom, which is what our servicemen and women are protecting in Iraq – giving the people the right to vote and make laws.

When the governor and a handful of people in the state Legislature can override the people’s wishes, our system is broken. If we let that happen this time, it will happen again, and soon there will be no need to vote.

I heard Peter Mills, who is running for governor, say that he had a red light and a green light, and that he chose the green light, which meant he voted against the people’s vote.

I feel that anyone who votes no against the referendum striking down the anti-discrimination law is voting against the majority of the people and is breaking our system. We have a right way of making laws, and I feel that is the way things should be done.

If there is a candidate for governor out there who pushed the red button, I would support him.
