FARMINGTON – Elizabeth “Betty” White, 86, of Farmington, died Thursday evening, Oct. 27, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born in Augusta on Feb. 3, 1919, a daughter of Oscar H. and Eva (Twaddle) Brann. She received her education in Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School. She later attended Bates College.

On Aug. 29, 1941, she married David Fletcher White at her home in Augusta. They moved to Farmington in 1963, and he died on July 10, 1974.

She worked for Central Maine Power Co., the state of Maine, the University of Maine at Farmington and the Lewiston Sun Journal, before her retirement when she became active as a volunteer at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She enjoyed attending church and sewing. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and an honorary member of Lambda Epsilon.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret “Tobey” Levine of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; a son, Charles H. White of Farmington; four grandchildren, Sophia, Glenn, Suzanne and David; and one great-grandson, Zander.

She was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Henry A. Brann; and a twin sister, Margaret Danborg.
