Although I didn’t see the article on Oct.13 that Irv Faunce spoke of in his letter to the editor, I would disagree that the statement about “shacking up” being called “living in sin” was too harsh. Rather, it was right on target.
We face a vote soon on another topic (gay rights) that some want to see pass so that their lifestyle will get the state’s seal of approval, when I believe it is sin, plain and simple.
Do we all sin, including me? My Bible says yes (Romans 3:23). Can we all receive forgiveness? My Bible again says yes (1 John 1:9). Does God love sinners, no matter what they have done? John 3:16-17 says yes.
If someone wants to believe that it’s OK to sin, that’s a person’s choice, and that person should be allowed to live without fear of retribution. But I should not be forced to accept it, and should have the right to say so without fear of punishment.
God gave us his love letter, the Bible, to show us how to live. Let’s give it a try. As the old TV show said, “Father knows best.”
