HEBRON, Conn. (AP) – A teenage boy was airlifted to Hartford Hospital Saturday after the paddleboat he and another boy were in overturned in the chilly Amston Lake, said state police.
Divers found him in several feet of water about two hours after the accident, which was reported just after noon.
The second boy was rescued shortly after the accident by two men who jumped in their boat when they heard his cries for help.
“He said he couldn’t feel his hands or his legs. He felt like he was going to sink when I grabbed him,” rescuer Michael Roberts told WVIT-TV. “I said “I’m not going to let you go.”
Authorities did not release their identities or the condition of the hospitalized boy.
