KINGFIELD – Eva Mozelle Tranten, 75, of Kingfield, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, at her home.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1929, in Wilmington, N.C., the daughter of Zebulin and Mary (Williams) Wells. She was educated in the schools of Wilmington and attended Wilmington State College.

On July 3, 1954, “Mozelle” married Neal G. Tranten in South Carolina.

Mozelle was a devoted mother to her eight children, and the many others who considered her like a mother. She lived her life as an excellent example of giving. She gave as a teacher of Sunday School and Bible School in Kingfield for many years, and as a Literacy Volunteer teaching children how to read. She gave as a member of the Kingfield United Methodist Church and a charter member of the board of directors for Mt. Abram Regional Health Center.

She received much joy from her grandchildren and also 50 years of special friendships with Cecelia “Cis” Stanley, Naida Woodcock and many others. Mozelle was well-known for encouraging others to always be their own person.

She is survived by her husband, Neal Tranten, of 51 years; four daughters, Robin Konieczko and husband, Robert, Terry Whitehead and husband, Eugene, Holly Jane Paul and husband, Michael, and Tracy Schleicher and husband, Ronald; four sons, Donald Tranten, Clay Tranten and wife, Carolyn, Neal C. Tranten and wife, Susan, Michael Tranten and wife, Pamela; 20 grandchildren, Grady, Hillary, Stasiu, Kyle, Nicholas, Noah, Lauren, Brooke, Tyler, Andrew, Emily, Colin, Meghan, Elizabeth, Katherine, Hannah, Christopher, Zachary, Bruce and Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Nikki; two sisters, Harriet Hicks and Fannie Frye; two brothers, Donavan Wells and Robert Wells; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Inez and Dorris.
