GREENE – Dorita E. Samson, 83, of Greene, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 12, 1922, the daughter of Arthur and Georgianna Pelletier, and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was educated in Lewiston schools and attended Lewiston High School.
She was employed by the city of Auburn as a crossing guard for more than 25 years.
She was a member of the Silver Knights and Samson School of Majorettes and Drums. She enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, clogging, gardening and sewing. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially fond of her pets, Suzie, Lady and Tiny.
She is survived by her husband, Real A. Samson, whom she married on Nov. 26, 1942, of Greene; two sons, Russell Samson and his wife, Jean, of Lake Widge, Va., and Randall Samson and his wife, Rose, of New Hampshire; four daughters, Realita Champagne and her husband, Roland, of Cape Coral, Fla., Ramona Sleeper and her husband, Gary, of Sebago, Ruby Levesque and her husband, Michael, of Auburn, and Rosemarie Lamontagne and her husband, Donald, of Greene; two sisters, Theresa Bernier of Auburn and Terry Conant of Florida; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Armand DeCormier; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Dorita will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and shared her life.
