PORTLAND – Thornton May, a Maine resident, futurist and adviser to senior executives, will speak at the Finance Authority of Maine’s annual meeting.

The event will be Nov. 15 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.

May combines a passion for empirical research, a capacity for opportunity identification and a stand-up comic’s gift for storytelling, according to organizers of the meeting.

He is executive director and dean at the IT Leadership Academy. A columnist at Computerworld, his insights on the future of marketing, the future practice of strategy, the computer industry or CEO reports have appeared in Harvard Business Review, the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, the MIT Sloan Management Review, American Demographics, USA Today and Business Week.

May is an executive education faculty member at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, the HAAS School of Business at the University of California-Berkeley and Carnegie-Mellon University. He also is on the curriculum advisory committee at Babson College.
