AUBURN – George E. Turcotte, 83, of Mill Street, Auburn, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, at his daughter Diane’s home in Auburn, after a battle with cancer.
He was born in Sabattus on Nov. 6, 1921, the son of Antonio and Irena (Guay) Turcotte.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater, where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star medal.
In 1949, he married the former Constance Berube, who died Aug. 2, 1995.
He worked for many local contractors, painting and doing carpentry. He was a member of St. Louis Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves two daughters, Diane Dubois of Auburn and Sonia Fois and her husband, Andrew, of Washington, D.C.; one son, David Turcotte of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Matthew, Michelle, Kevin and Brian Dubois of Auburn and Andrew and Tommy Fois of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Hector Turcotte of Oregon, Paul Turcotte of Florida and Reginald Turcotte of Lisbon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Constance; a son, Donald; an infant daughter, Rena; a sister, Marguerite Paradis; two brothers, Normand and Raymond; and a son-in-law, David Dubois.
