POLAND – Dana G. Littlefield, 54, of Poland, died of natural causes Saturday, Nov. 5, while deer hunting.

Born in Portland, Nov. 29, 1950, Dana was the son of Alvin F. and Shirley (Corthell) Littlefield. He attended Falmouth schools and Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa.

His love was working outdoors. Dana worked for Goodall Landscaping Co. of Portland, before going out on his own. He served for some time before purchasing land in Poland formerly owned by the Shakers on which to grow his business, Shaker Hill Nursery and Landscape Co. Dana took great pride in the quality of his work and nursery stock. He was honest and fair in his business and with his employees.

Dana’s passions included fishing and hunting from a very young age. He enjoyed cooking and was well-known for his homemade pizza and anadama bread.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Littlefield and stepmother, Sara Littlefield, both of Portland; his wife, Martha P. Gyger Littlefield; his daughter, Sally and his stepson, John Culpepper, both of Poland; a sister, Ann Fisher and her husband, David, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Ron and his wife, Kathleen, of Harpswell; and a half-sister, Deb Glanville and her husband, Mark, of Portland. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Esther Gyger of Bridgton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and June Gyger of Bridgton, and Eric and Sally Biggar of Port Townsend, Wash. He is also survived by nephew, Brian Fisher, his wife, Tracy, and their daughter, Emily, of Davie, Fla.; niece, Kristina, and nephew, Zachary Glanville, of Portland, and nephews, David Gyger of Thornton, N.H., and Daniel Gyger of Bridgton.

Dana was predeceased by his father, Alvin, in 1993. Dana will also be missed by close friends, Michel and Barbara Fleury of Poland.
