GORHAM – The University of Southern Maine women’s soccer team has been named the second seed in the Eastern College Athletic Division’s 2005 Division III tournament, only the third time that the Huskies have played in the ECAC women’s postseason.
The Huskies will face seventh-seeded Brandeis University on Wednesday, November 9th at 2:00pm. If they defeat the Judges, they will host a semifinal game against the winner of the Clark-Wentworth Institute of Technology game on Saturday.
Other first round matchups include top-seeded Simmons College visiting eighth-seeded St. Joseph’s College of Connecticut, and fourth-seeded Keene State against Western New England College.
Southern Maine finished fourth in the Little East Conference this season with an 11-7-1 record overall, one win shy of the school record. The Huskies lost in the semifinals of the LEC tournament to eventual champion Eastern Connecticut State.
The last time the Huskies played in the ECAC tournament was 2000, when they were an eighth seed.
