BANGOR – Fruit Street School art teacher Wendy Leavitt Libby was named Art Educator of the Year in Maine.
Libby, who grew up in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School, received recognition at the Fall Art Educators’ Conference held at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts on Deer Isle.
Libby has been an art teacher in the Bangor School Department for 27 years and was the recipient of the Bill Bunyon Award in 2000 for making a positive impact on art education in the state.
She is the author of three art education books published by Delmar Thompson Publishers and is an artist-in-residence and workshop facilitator in the greater Bangor area.
Libby will make speaking appearances across the state and will attend the National Art Educators’ Conference next spring in Chicago.
