AUBURN – Otis H. Nelson, 79, of Damy Drive passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, at the Hospice House after a long illness.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1926, in Lisbon, the son of Otis and Dolly (Hunnewell) Nelson.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Medal.

He enjoyed fishing, ham radio, spending time with his cats and watching the Red and White sox win their World Series.

He worked for more than 30 years in the local mills, including; Bates, Libby, and Camden Yarns. He also worked in maintenance at the Auburn Mall.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Lucille Nelson of Auburn; son, James Nelson and his wife, Marie, of Lewiston; stepchildren, Kenneth Eugene Edwards Jr. and wife, Diane, of Lewiston, Janet Hampton and husband, Ben, of East Sumner; grandchildren, Vicki, Heather, Derek, Kenneth III, Ryan, Courtney, Brittany and Dan; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Malachi, Trevin; brother, Bob Nelson of Ashland, Joseph Ruby and wife, Betty, of Oakland, George Ruby and wife, Louise, of Lisbon, David Ruby of Abbott Village; sister, Diantha Landry and husband, Michael, of Lisbon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a baby daughter, Nelson.

His family is very grateful for the help and services provided by Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice.
