This is in response to an article that appeared in the Sun Journal Nov. 2. The headline was “Insurers upset by new Dirigo fee.” The article explained that some health insurers say they’ll have to raise premiums because of a new state fee, a tax, required to help pay for Gov. Baldacci’s Dirigo health program.
Every working person and retiree who pays a health insurance premium will see an increase in costs due to this misguided policy.
When the governor is on television plugging his Dirigo health plan, please remember that we are paying for these ads through insurance premiums.
It is irresponsible to think that increased costs to insurance companies won’t be passed on to the ratepayers.
In conclusion, we will have an election next November, and it will be our responsibility to remedy this problem.
