SARASOTA, Fla. – Richard L. “Dick” Fox, 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 3, at Sarasota Memorial Hospice, in Sarasota, Fla. His wife, son, and daughter surrounded him.

He was born in Auburn, the son of Oscar and Fanita Proctor Fox on April 27, 1935. He lived in both Lewiston and Sarasota, Fla.

He retired from the Lewiston Fire Department; he had served as a lieutenant firefighter. He also retired from Lewiston Welding/Advantage Tool Co., where he had been employed as a repair tool/welding equipment technician.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife and meeting new people. One of his greatest enjoyments was spending time at the ocean. He was the happiest at his home in Sarasota. He also enjoyed automobile maintenance, woodworking and home improvement projects.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley; his son, Richard F. “Rick” Fox and his wife, Patty, of Fryeburg; a daughter, Wendy and her husband, Daniel Longley, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Cory and Alyson Fox of Fryeburg, and Shawn Longley of Lewiston; his sister, Janice Damstra and her husband of Concord, Calif.; brothers, Larry, Ronald Gerald, John, and Russell Fox and their spouses, all of Lewiston; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Sandra Goodwin.
