LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine is seeking volunteers to assist with small projects at the 130 East Ave. location.
The YWCA offers a childcare and preschool program for ages 2- to 5. In order to organize the classrooms better and make the kids more comfortable, the staff is seeking to add cubbies for the children.
“We usually do these projects a little at a time,” said Butch Dow, maintenance supervisor, “but right now we have quite a few carpentry projects that need to be done. It would be great to have some volunteers who could help us out over the next few weeks.”
In addition to the cubbies that need to be built, the YWCA needs to have shelving built, needs the cabinets in the kitchen repaired, has some painting and a small demolition project.
They are seeking people who have some skill with small building projects. “None of these projects needs a license or certification. We just need a few people who are handy with a hammer and understand basic carpentry,” Dow said.
The YWCA offers child care, aquatics and counseling services. To learn more, contact Dow or Anne Craigs at 795-4050.
