BUCKFIELD – Selectmen opened bids for surplus town garage equipment and sold $2,500 worth.
But they decided to keep the steel road sander since they felt it was worth more than the bid of $2,503 that they had received.
Maynard Farrar of Sumner bought a 1983 Ford plow truck, and J.B. Dupis of Turner bought a 1987 International plow truck.
In other business, SAD 39 Superintendent Richard Colpitts and School Board Chairman Colleen Bullocks were present to answer questions from the board. The SAD 39 representatives said the Budget Committee is just beginning its monthly meetings, and there will be Ad Hoc Committee meetings later in the year to discuss the future of SAD 39. Buckfield Town Manager Glen Holmes will be sitting on the Budget Committee to represent the town, and Selectman Skip Stanley will be on the Ad Hoc committee.
Richard Piper and Jerald Wiley were appointed to the Road Committee, Mary Jones to the Beautification Committee, and Everett Tilton and Amy Beaucage to the Church on the Hill Committee. The board approved the resignation of Joan Abrams from the SAD 39 Board of Directors.
The General Assistance Ordinance was approved.
The Oxford Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony near Stony Brook Bridge in Oxford at 7 a.m. Nov. 17, marking the completion of the road work on Route 117.
