AUBURN – Tiffany Seames poured in a game-high 27 points Wednesday to lead Central Maine Community College to a 85-30 romp over Unity in collegiate women’s basketball action on Wednesday.
Michelle Parent chipped in for the Mustangs (1-0) with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Amanda Webb added 18.

Brandeis advances on penalty kicks
GORHAM – Seventh-seeded Brandeis University advanced to the semifinals of the 2005 ECAC Division III Women’s New England Soccer Championship by edging the second-seeded University of Southern Maine on penalty kicks Wednesday afternoon.
The two squads played to a scoreless draw through 90 minutes of regulation time and two 10-minute sudden death overtime periods before deciding which would advance on penalty kicks.
Brandeis, shooting first, got successful attempts from Sarah Hasak, Kim Fraser and Lisa Kaplin in the round of five shooters. Southern Maine received successful shots from South Paris native Devin Edwards, Samantha Rennie and Katie Else. Else’s shot forced the tiebreaker into sudden-death overtime.
Lizzie Bremner for Brandeis and Eva Hanson for USM were successful in the first sudden-death round. After Meredith Milstein put the Judges ahead 5-4, sophomore goalie Betsy Medow stopped the attempt of Kara Higgins to end the match.
Medow was credited with two saves in the match while USM keeper Mindy Morneault had seven stops. Brandeis had a 20-7 advantage in shots while the Huskies (11-7-2) had a 7-5 margin in corner kicks.
