LEWISTON – Guy A. Hartnett, 73, of Friendship, formerly of Lewiston, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Montclair, N.J., Sept. 20, 1932, a son of Edward J. and Florence P. Gunyan Hartnett. He attended Seton Hall Preparatory School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics and business administration from the University of Maine at Orono.

He served on active duty at Fort Sill, Okla., as a second lieutenant, and served eight years in the Maine Army National Guard and was discharged with the rank of captain.

Before retiring to Friendship, he was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Lewiston and a former member of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club, past president of the Governing Board of St. Mary’s Hospital, director and treasurer of Tri-County Mental Health Agency and served as a member of the advisory board for Sigma Nu Fraternity, Orono.

He also served 15 years on the board of directors of Printing Industries of New England, a trade association of 435 members, the advisory board of St. Mary’s General Hospital, United Way and Lewiston-Auburn Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the board of directors of Peoples Heritage Savings Bank. He was president and CEO of Tufts Brothers Printing Inc. and One-Right Systems Inc.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sally Small Hartnett; his daughters, Lynn Booth and her husband, Spencer, of Hebron, Conn., and Diane O’Hara and her husband, Michael, of Auburn; his sons, Mark Hartnett and his wife, Lisa, of Auburn, and Paul Hartnett and his wife, Susan, of Brunswick; his grandchildren, Melanie, Hannah and Eryn Booth, Ryan, Lindsay and Reid O’Hara, Benjamin and Emily Hartnett and Katherine Hartnett; a sister, Edith Moshey and husband, Edward, of Princeton, N.J.; and a brother, Edward J. Hartnett of Minnesota.
