ROXBURY – J. Woodrow “Woody” Thibeault, 79, of Roxbury Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born in Rumford on July 13, 1926, a son of Napoleon and Sophie (Arsenault) Thibeault. He was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1944.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was employed for 42 years with the Rumford Paper Mill, retiring in 1988.

He was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mexico and a member of the Boise 25 and 40 year clubs.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time at Richardson Lake watching sporting events. Woody also loved spending time with his family and many friends, and taking care of the neighborhood animals.

Woody will be remembered for his sense of humor and sharing stories and jokes.

He is survived by two daughters, Rachel Thompson and husband, Greg, of Westbrook, and April Knox and companion, Michael Dragoon, of Peru; four sons, Timothy W. Thibeault and wife, Linda, of Leeds, Peter M. Thibeault and wife, Heidi, of Peru, Dale A. Thibeault and wife, Kelly, of Roxbury, and Dale Richard and wife, Tracy, of Andover; one sister, Mildred Andrews of Jacksonville, Fla.; a lifelong companion, Raylene Richard of Roxbury; a niece, Dreena Andrews of Philadelphia, Pa.; and he was “Papa Woody” to nine grandchildren, Lisa, Joshua, Christopher, Travis, Brittany, Angela, Connor, Benjamin and Kayla, and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Derek and Aiko.

He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Gerard Thibeault and Napoleon Thibeault Jr.
