LEEDS – Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies and the Leeds Historical Society will gather to honor Leeds veterans at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans’ Monument at Leeds Center.

Gary Marston will perform and there will be a sing-along. Participants will honor all members of the Leeds community who have served in the military.

The Leeds Historical Society will hold an open house, offering cider, coffee and doughnuts. The Resource Room will be open for inspection. Veterans and families are asked to bring an item for “show and tell” from their military experience and share personal stories.

The Girl Scouts are collecting information and pictures of those now serving. Families are asked to contact Brenda Kirk, Girl Scout leader, at 114 Campbell Road, Leeds, 524-2253. The Scouts will have a display of the information. Messages will be collected on a common sheet to send to servicemen.

If the weather is bad, most of the activities will be held in the History Center, with the flag-raising and brief ceremonies at the Veterans’ Monument at 10 a.m.

A new historical society Web site by Christina Berry is still under construction at http://leedshistory.freewebsitehosting.com. History Center hours may change during the winter. Call ahead at 524-5933.
