TURNER – Workers have re-sodded the Turner Primary School playing fields and lawn damaged by cars nearly two weeks ago, restoring them well enough for student use.

Police continue to search for the vandals.

The Turner Primary School’s baseball field, lawn and Cobb Road field, which is also used by the middle school field hockey team, were ruined Friday, Oct. 28, when at least two cars were driven over them. The cars tore up the grass and dirt and left deep tire ruts, causing about $2,000 in damage.

“Anywhere they could spin around they did,” Business Manager Chris Trenholm said.

Workers re-sodded the fields and lawn and repaired them well enough for primary school students to use. Some areas may be reseeded in the spring.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the vandalism. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Department at 784-7361 or school resource officer Nelson Peters at 225-3533.
