LISBON – One driver was injured in a three-car rear-end crash on Route 196 in Lisbon on Friday night.

Mark Farris, 49, of 9 Birch St., Lisbon Falls, complained of back pain and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, according to Sgt. Patrick Gagnon.

According to Gagnon, all three cars were traveling east toward Lisbon Falls. Farris was driving behind a car operated by John Ziehm, 46, of 19 Memorial Drive in Lisbon, who had slowed in traffic.

Farris told police he was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of Ziehm’s car.

The driver of the third car, Timothy Campbell, 34, of 76 Rackleff Street, Portland, was unable to stop and struck the rear of the Farris vehicle.

Farris’ 1986 Plymouth station wagon was demolished, and damage was estimated at $3,000 to the rear of Ziehm’s 2003 Ford Focus, and at $7,000 to the front of Campbell’s 2005 Chrysler 300 rental car in the 7 p.m. mishap. The investigation was continuing late Friday night, Sgt. Gagnon said.
