SOUTH PARIS – Ellis and Jennie Kilponen of South Paris recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering at the Village Inn Restaurant in Auburn. The event was planned by their children.
Balloons and flowers decorated the room and the couple received cards and money. An anniversary cake was served. Loraine Bonney, daughter, provided the toast.
Mr. Kilponen and the former Jennie Ring were married on Aug. 18, 1955, in Sumner by the Rev. Harold S. Mathews. Their children are Gail Farr, Loraine Bonney, Debra Kangas Morse, Belinda Edmunds, Mark Kilponen and Ellis Kilponen Jr. Their grandchildren are Tammy Hadley, Troy Farr, Toby Bonney, Wade Bonney, Kimberly Kangas, Billy Joe Kangas, Christopher Morse, Angie Morse Dumont, Timmy, Eric, Kerry and Jason Edmunds, Ty Kilponen, Jamie Kilponen, Kayla Kilponen, Joshua Kennison and Tashia and Tara Brown. Their great-grandchildren are Courtney and Christine Farr, Cody and Dylan Hadley, Samantha Loring, Krysten and Kaydence Morse, Cassidy and Dominic Dumont and Troy Edmunds.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Kilponen was employed at Bridges Beach, Summit Springs Hotel in Poland, Pickel Shop, A.C. Lawrence in South Paris, Mecon in Oxford and Penley Brothers in West Paris. She is the daughter of the late Inez and Joseph Ring of West Paris.
Mr. Kilponen was employed at Rosenberg Brothers in Sumner, M.G. Benson in West Paris, Sterling Mills in Bryant Pond, Penley Brothers in West Paris, Merrill Transport in Portland, Neil B. Cohen and Currier Trucking in Gorham, N.H. He is the son of the late Lena and August Kilponen of Sumner.
