GREENE – With a blown heat exchanger in the town’s furnace, it has become a bit chilly for municipal office employees recently.
Town Manager Charlie Noonan said replacing the piece would be just shy of the cost to replace the entire furnace. He asked the selectmen Monday night to purchase a new furnace.
“We have the money to do this,” Noonan said. “We just have to shuffle some money in the administrative account. We also have money in the emergency compensation and the building maintenance accounts.”
Selectmen agreed to spend no more than $4,000 for a new furnace.
“This was a no-brainer,” Selectman Anthony Reny said. “We need to do this for the employees.”
