SOUTH PARIS – Barbara Linn Conant, 91, of South Paris, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Market Square Health Care Center.
She was born at Hood River, Ore., on June 5, 1914, the daughter of James L. and Christina Grace Linn Fuller. She graduated from Hartland Academy and attended two years of nursing school.
She had been employed at Young’s Turkey Farm, Burnham and Morrill Canning Factory, Harrison Laundry and the A & P Store in Norway. She had been a medical secretary for Dr. Bean and worked in the medical records department at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She married Stephen R. Conant in 1933; he passed away on Jan. 11, 1992. She was a 60-year member of the Heywood Club in Norway and a member of the Paris Hill Country Club.
She is survived by two sons, Ben E. Conant and his wife, Carol Gould, of South Paris, and Robert L. Conant of New York City and Norway; a daughter, Barbara Townsend and her husband, George, of Norway; grandchildren, Ben Conant II and wife, Sharon, Belinda Sweeney and husband, Kevin, Cheryl Sherman and husband, Darrell, Christine Gouldrup and husband, Eddie, Stephen Townsend, George R. Townsend and wife, Kelly, Jo-Linn Tibbetts and husband, Jim, and Stephanie Gould; five great-grandchildren; a special niece, Ruth Gage; a stepsister, Mary Linn Roby; her faithful companion, “Rosie”; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
