Networking meet
RUMFORD – The community networking meeting, sponsored by the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition, will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Community Room of Scrappers DoMaine, Canal Street.
Christina Dingus, investment specialist for Bangor Securities, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangor Savings Bank, will present a brief seminar on retirement savings, giving a general look at how tax-deferral and compounding interest can affect retirement savings.
There will also be updates on other local organizations’ community activities, including programs of the Healthy Communities. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, contact the Healthy Communities at 364-7408.
Film to be shown
RUMFORD – Pennacook Art Center will present a film, “Laurels,” by Toni Seger of Lovell, at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18. For more information, call 364-0072.
Society display
MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Nov. 22, serving a potluck dinner at 5:30 p.m. Dues of $5 for 2006 are due. There will be a display of World War II and members will share memories of rationing and blackouts.
Thanksgiving Eve
RUMFORD – An Ecumenical Thanksgiving Eve Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. The church’s minister, Pastor Kelly Harvell, and the Rev. Virginia Snapp-Cunningham of the Mexico Congregational, United Church of Christ (UCC) will jointly lead the service.
