Bake sale

LISBON – The Lisbon Community Credit Union is supporting Lisbon Area Christian Outreach in fund-raising efforts.

A bake sale will be held at the credit union from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18. The sale may be extended to 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 19, depending on the amount of food donated. During November, December and January there will be raffles. A shopping spree raffle valued at $500 is under way and tickets are available at the credit union.

Giving tree

DURHAM – Durham will participate in the annual Lisbon Giving Tree again this year. Applications are available through the Lisbon and Durham town offices. Cutoff to apply and return applications is Friday, Nov. 18.

Tags for the Giving Tree will be available at area sites Monday, Nov. 28. Residents may pick up tags during business hours or on Sunday through a local church. There are two kinds of tags: gift and angel tags. They must be returned on or before Friday, Dec. 9, at the close of business.

Gifts dropped off after Dec. 9 must be taken to the Lisbon Town Office. Volunteers will wrap the gifts, and donations of wrap, tape, tags, mittens, hats and scarves are welcome. For more information, call Judy Goddard at 353-3000, ext. 124, Lisbon or Debbie Larrabee at 353-6925, Durham.

Holiday auction

AUBURN – The Salvation Army will host its eighth annual holiday auction on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Midnight Blues Club, 34 Court St.

Area local businesses have donated items that range from Maineiacs tickets and signed memorabilia to gift baskets, electronics and household items. Maj. Frank Kirk, divisional secretary, will serve as auctioneer.

The auction will begin at 1 p.m. with a preview of auction items. There will be a silent auction, food and entertainment by L-A’s Los’ Lazy Boys, who blend the sound of blues, country and rock.

The bidding will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 each and can be purchased at the Salvation Army, 67 Park St. For more information, call 783-0201.

AARP speaker

LEWISTON – Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street.

The speaker will be State Sen. Peggy Rotundo, representing District 16. She is involved in the community, especially with educational programs, serves on many boards and has received many awards.

Rotundo will review the activities of the last Legislature and will answer questions.

Anyone age 50 or older is invited to attend and join the chapter. Refreshments will be served. Attendance and pot of gold drawings will be held.

Korean chapter

AUBURN – An informal meeting to discuss organization of a Lewiston-Auburn chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. Anyone interested in participating is asked to call Ben Adler at 783-6038 between 1 and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. If there is no answer, leave a message. Every Korean War veteran is welcome.
