GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. – Daisy M. LeClair, 100, died Sunday, Nov. 13, at La Posada in Green Valley, Ariz.. She had been a resident there for 3 years.
She was born in Rumford Corner on Aug. 19, 1905, the daughter of Edwin K. and Lura Swett Martin. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1923. After teaching one year in Hanover, she attended Burdett Business College and then worked in the office of Kresges Five & Ten in Lynn, Mass.
Daisy married John Sylvere LeClair in 1926, and lived in Bethel for more than 70 years. After working for 22 years in the Bethel Post Office, she retired in 1967. She was a member of the West Parish Congregational Church and Bethel Historical Society.
Survivors are a son, Gilbert C. LeClair and wife, Carol R. LeClair of Green Valley, Ariz.; brothers, Leroy Day (Lois) and Robert Day (Wilma) of Bryant Pond; granddaughters, Judith LeClair (Gary Hultman) of Green Valley, Ariz., and Susan LeClair of Tucson, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Brooke LeClair Daniels (Matthew) of Waltham, Mass.; one great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Claire Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.
Daisy was predeceased by her husband, Syl; and sister, Diana Forsyth of Topsham.
Daisy and Sophia (at 12 weeks old), representing a span of five generations, met in August to celebrate Daisy’s 100th birthday!
