LEWISTON – Maine trial attorney and legal educator Valerie Stanfill has joined the Lewiston office of Troubh, Heisler, Piampiano, Hark, Andrucki, Attorneys at Law.

Stanfill brings her trial experience to a broad range of litigation, including family law, criminal and personal injury cases.

She was most recently a clinical professor at the University of Maine School of Law teaching courses in Trial Practice and Advanced Trial Advocacy. She supervised student attorneys in a general clinical practice at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. She also founded and directed the clinic’s domestic violence project. She coached Maine Law students in the National Trial Competition for five years, winning the Northeast Regionals in 2002.

She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Maine School of Law and Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Stanfill has trained lawyers in national programs as well as in Russia. Among other professional activities, she has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association since 1997 and is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association. She currently co-chairs the Women’s Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association, the largest section of the association. She is the past chairwoman of the Board of Overseers of the Bar’s Fee Arbitration Commission and a member of the Grievance Commission. Stanfill is also a past president of the Androscoggin County Bar Association, where she was the first woman to hold the position.
