FARMINGTON – Travis Carrier scored 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the UMF men’s basketball team to a 91-78 win over Lyndon State in the championship game of the 2005 Hight Chevrolet Tip-Off Tournament.

Trafton Teague and Matt St. John provided the perimeter spark for the Beavers, chipping in with 19 and 16 points, respectively, while Travis Magnusson joined Carrier with a double-double of his own – 10 points and 11 assists.

Denison 74, Colby 71

CHICAGO, Ill.- Dan Hodgkinson had 18 points to help Denison University hold off a Colby College comeback attempt in a 74-71 win over the Mules in the consolation game of the Midway Classic men’s basketball tournament on Sunday.

Nick Farrell poured in 16 points for Colby and Nate Dick added 12 on the day.Mark Gaudet tossed in three 3-pointers.

Hodgkinson was joined in double figures by Jordan Krantz and Robb Hern, with 16 and 11 points respectively for Denison.

Colby 51, Husson 48

WATERVILLE – Regina Wohl scored all 17 of her points before halftim to lead Colby past Husson 51-48 in the Colby Tip-Off Tournament championship game Sunday.

Wohl drained five 3-pointers in the game, the final one coming at the buzzer before halftime giving the Mules a 30-23 lead entering into the break. Jenny Rollins led the Husson offense with 17 points, while Carmen Ballard tossed in 13 in the loss.

The Eagles fall to 1-1 on the young season, while the Mules improve to 2-0.

Bowdoin 72, Eastern Connecticut 39

WILLIMANTIC, Conn.-Jill Anelauskas came off the bench to score 14 points in the second half as Bowdoin dismantled Eastern Connecticut State 72-39 in the Eastern Tip-Off Tournament championship Sunday.

The teams battled through a very evenly played first half, seeing Bowdoin enter the intermission with a 26-23 lead. The Polar Bears then exploded in the second half, taking a commanding lead by otscoring Eastern Connecticut 46-16 in the second half. Eileen Flaherty and Justin Pouravelis each added 15 points on the afternoon for Bowdoin (2-0). Teammates Julia Loonin, Anelauskas, Pouravelis and Flaherty were all named to the all tournament team. Eastern Connecticut was led by Sandy Mosley with 11 points.
