SAD 52 directors asked parents with questions or problems related to the district’s busing policy to attend a school board meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Leeds Central School.
School board members rode through areas of Greene last week where housing developments and private roads are proliferating, causing problems with school busing.
According to school-district policy, grades-seven-through-12 students may be required to walk up to 1 mile to a designated bus stop. Grades one through six can be required to walk no more than a half-mile. Kindergarten students are picked up along town roads.
The ride reinforced school board directors’ views that current busing policy should stand, but that parents with concerns should be heard.
