It’s a melodrama! It’s a classic! It’s an Auburn Middle School Theater Production! It’s going to be hilarious, so you better find the time to get over to the AMS Theater to watch us middle schoolers perform “Peril on the High Seas” by Billy St.John, directed by Liz Rollins.
From New York to London, the H.M.S. Majestic (it’s a ship) makes its way with a good variety of personalities enjoying the ride. There are flappers, jazz babies, cute couples, and even a “Duke,” but more importantly the innocent Merry Ann Sweet (Hanna Martin) will be aboard accompanied by her chaperone, Aunt Bea Goode (Melissa Browne). Unknown to anyone except themselves, the villain, Snively Swine (Derrick Lacasse) and his evil accomplice, Aracnia Webb are also on aboard and are quietly planning to kidnap Miss Sweet and hold her for ransom. As everyone should know, there is always a hero in a melodrama. In this particular one we have a kind waiter, Gary De Mille (Michael Weber), who, at first sight, falls in love with Miss Sweet. I am dying to tell you more but am forced to keep in the quiet until you have seen the play.
