FARMINGTON – Velma I. Brown, 82, of Fayette, died Nov. 20, at Edgewood Manor Rehabilitation and Living Center, Farmington, where she resided for the past year and a half, formerly of Fayette.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1923, at the family farm on the Campground Road in Fayette, a daughter of Wallace and Irene Young. She received her education in Fayette and Livermore Falls schools and married Lawrence Brown in 1942.
She was a hardworking woman who worked most of her life in the woods and on the family farm. She enjoyed gardening, tending her animals and was known to many for her beloved pet monkey, “Pete.”
She is survived by three sons, Lawrence and his wife, Millie, of Livermore Falls, Alton and his companion, Cindy Cole, of Fayette and Danny and his wife, Alicia of Fayette; a daughter, Mary Blaisdell and her husband, John, of Livermore Falls; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; her longtime companion Willie Begin; one son; and her parents.
