TURNER – Slippery roads Wednesday morning were blamed for a single-car accident on Route 117.

Timothy Pomerleau, 39, of Turner, lost control of his General Motors SUV about 8:30 a.m. and spun out of control. The vehicle hit a tree and caught fire. It was completely destroyed, according to Deputy Mark Caron of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department.

“It was a very straight part, but very slick,” Caron said. “There were no witnesses, so we’re saying weather was the only factor at this point.”

Both Pomerleau and his wife sustained minor injuries, but sought medical care on their own. No injuries were reported for the two children also traveling in the vehicle.
