LEWISTON – Police on Wednesday released a composite drawing of a man suspected of robbing Northeast Bank on Lisbon Street two days earlier.

Detectives investigating the case were provided descriptions of the suspect by bank employees who were held up about 4 p.m. Monday.

The suspect remained at large Wednesday night.

Investigators said a lone man went into the bank at 882 Lisbon St. and handed a teller a note demanding money.

No weapon was displayed during the heist and no one was hurt.

Police did not say how much money was handed to the suspect before he walked from the bank and disappeared. It was not known whether the suspect left the area on foot or in a vehicle.

The bank is next to Martel Elementary School at Lisbon Street and East Avenue.

Detectives Steve McCallum and Lee Jones went to the scene, where they dusted for fingerprints and examined video from surveillance cameras.

Police said the man was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over a hat. He was wearing light colored pants at the time of the heist.

Police also described the suspect as dark-skinned and between 25 and 35 years old.

He was wearing square black glasses with yellow tinted lenses when he walked into Northeast Bank, police said.

People with information – including those who were driving past the bank on Lisbon Street at the time of the robbery – are asked to call McCallum or Jones at 795-9000 or the general police number at 784-6422.
