WINTHROP – Registered nurse Kathy Thoreson of Winthrop has recently been appointed as director of nursing services at Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center on the Old Lewiston Road.

She has been a nurse manager for several years and most recently was the nurse manager at Heritage. Prior to that, she was director of supportive care at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Lewiston. She supervised the administrative team as well as field staff totaling nearly 100 people.

She has also worked in many other aspects of nursing in her 20-plus years of nursing experience.

At Heritage, she will supervise the entire clinical unit which includes a 28-bed skilled and nursing unit and a 24-bed assisted living unit.

Thoreson graduated from the Eastern Maine Medical School of Nursing. She and her husband own and operate the local toy store, K and M Toys and Collectible Hobbies, on Main Street in Winthrop.
