St. Mary’s to hold health screenings

LEWISTON – Health screenings will be offered Thursday, Dec. 1, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

The screenings will check blood pressure and cholesterol, and will review individual risk factors. If necessary, medical advice and a physician’s referral will be offered.

The screenings will run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and cost $10. People may call 777-8898 to schedule an appointment.

Turner residents to vote on funds

TURNER – Voters at a special town meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Municipal Office Building will decide on spending $84,000 from unappropriated surplus for an addition to the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center.

Selectmen will be applying for a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant which, combined with the town money, would enable handicap access and provide handicap-accessible bathrooms at the popular recreation center. Approval of all the money would assure that the project is completed during the coming year.
