MEXICO – Got preteen children?

From 2 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Mexico Wal-Mart, Rumford Patrolman Douglas Maifeld and Mexico police will be making free child-identification cards, complete with a photograph and fingerprint.

Rumford police received a new electronic fingerprint scanner recently, and police are taking a proactive stance on helping parents whose children might become lost, Maifeld said Tuesday afternoon.

“If, God forbid, a child gets lost, we and their parents will have their fingerprints on file,” he said.
