NEW YORK (AP) – The New York Rangers claimed forward Colton Orr off waivers from the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-3, 226-pound Orr had 27 penalty minutes in 20 games for Boston this season. He had a goal, six assists and 279 penalty minutes last season for Providence in the American Hockey League.

During the exhibition season, New York defenseman Dale Purinton gouged Orr’s eye and caused it to swell shut. Purinton was suspended 10 games without pay by the NHL and has since been assigned to Hartford of the AHL.
