TURNER – Voters at a special town meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Municipal Office Building will decide on spending $84,000 from un-appropriated surplus for an addition to the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center.

Selectmen will be applying for a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant which, combined with the town money, would enable handicap access and provide handicap-accessible bathrooms at the popular recreation center. Approval of all the money would assure that the project is completed during the coming year.

The special meeting is necessary to meet the looming deadline for applying for 2006 grants and the requirement that local money be committed before the application.
